Meet Sharon
Sharon Elvira Flowers has been a resident of Clay County since 2015. She moved here a few years after retiring from the Army. She joined the Army in 1988 and retired in 2008 after 20 years of faithful service to her Country. Sharon graduated from Fayetteville State University in 2001 with a degree in Psychology. While continuing to serve her Country she went on to pursue a Master’s Degree in Education from Penn State University. Education has always been a passion for her and in 2014 she completed a PhD in Psychology.After retiring from the Army, Sharon worked as a Transition Counselor helping soldiers who were leaving the military to have a successful transition back into the civilian workforce. Her love for education pushed her to apply for a position at her Alma Mater Fayetteville State University where she had the pleasure to provide academic counseling support to those students who were pursuing a degree in Education. During this time, she also taught incoming freshmen who were pursuing a Degree in Education. She also worked as an Adjunct Professor for Fayetteville Technical Community College and Carolina Colleges of Biblical Studies. She volunteered at Berean Baptist Academy to assist high school seniors pursue higher education.
After deciding to relocate to Florida, she resigned from her positions; however, was offered an online teaching position at both schools. She accepted and is still currently teaching and writing courses for the Bible College. She is currently a Part-time Adjunct at Maryville University and Southern New Hampshire University facilitating learning online. Sharon serves as the Director of Outreach at Love Alive Church in Middleburg Florida where she has the opportunity to partner with the community in assisting with their needs.
Sharon is married to retired Sergeant Major (SGM) Nathaniel A. Flowers who served 30 years in the Army, and has multiple combat experiences. Together they have eight wonderful children and four grandchildren.They have a daughter who is a graduate of Clay County Schools, and is currently a senior in college. They have two son’s currently serving in the military, a daughter currently serving as an Assistant Principal in North Carolina. The others are currently in school, while working.
